Happy Monday crafters! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Father’s Day is almost here! A simple wood caddy, personalized for your dad makes a great gift. You can put a few new tools into it, or maybe Dad’s favorite snacks. The chalkboard front allows you to put a loving message, a “Honey Do” list (ahem), or even a reminder of when the game is on! Laura Bray designed and created this awesome and useful Father’s Day craft. This project is very simple to make, and it will take up to 2 hours to complete. See the supplies and instructions to create this project below. To see more projects by Laura check out her blog, Katydiddys.

I don’t know about you, but even as an adult I still love Dr. Seuss. These stories and characters are wonderful, and perfect for all ages. I was recently browsing YouTube and stumbled across this amazing video tutorial. A girl designed her nails with a Lorax theme. How awesome are they? She created this design using Apple Barrel and FolkArt paints. These nails are so cute and unique. If you are looking for something new to try over the weekend, this is a great project. This is a great example of what can be created when you let your imagination take over. See the video below or click here to watch.

Howdy Plaid Crafters! I’m Kate from Cheap Crafty Mama and I am thrilled to be here today to share with you how I made this cute and simple Father’s Day footprint plaque! I am always a sucker for projects that involve my little artist’s hand and footprints. I’m blown away by how quickly he grows and want to remember every step along the way!
I am a former professional decorative painter turned stay-at-home-mom and I am always creating new things. I love to make crafts, gifts, food, home decor/renovations, crafts with kids and blog about how to do all of those things! Please come visit me at cheapcraftymama.com to join in the fun! Also I would love for you to visit my weekly linky party called “Pin It and Win It Wednesdaay”– where you can win free ad-space on my blog!
This year for Father’s day we made this adorable footprint plaque. I think it turned out super cute and you will be amazed by how simple it is to make!
You will need:
a pre-cut piece of wood (mine is from Hobby Lobby)
1 piece of scrapbook paper (Hobby lobby as well)
acrylic paint (I used Folk Art “coffee bean”, “barnwood”, and white)
white paint pen
paint brush (I love this Martha Stewart Crafts brush!)
To get started, trace the front of the wood panel onto the back of the scrapbook paper and cut it out. Paint a layer of Mod Podge on the wood…
…and stick the paper to it.
Next, paint your child’s foot white and stamp it on the paper. I couldn’t take any pictures of myself doing this because I had to work really fast before he got paint everywhere! I kept him in his highchair so he wouldn’t be able to escape and had a wet rag handy to wipe off the paint as soon as we were done.
Once the footprint is dry you can paint another layer of Mod Podge on top of the plaque. I also painted the sides of the wood brown and dry-brushed on some “barnwood” paint to make it look a little distressed.
When the Mod Podge is dry, the last step is to write the message using the white paint pen. That’s all there is to it, and now you have a cute keepsake for a great Dad!
I hope you all have a fabulous Father’s Day and I hope to see you at Cheap Crafty Mama sometime soon!!
