Handmade Valentine’s Day Glitter Photo Cube

You still have time to do Valentine’s projects – especially those to give as a gift.  Plaid designer Debbie Saenz created this “wow” photo cube to express your love . . . with glitter!  Photo cubes never go out of style, and actually make a great gift for an anniversary as well as Valentine’s Day.  If you think about it, you don’t even have to put photos in it.  You could also fill it with candy and a sweet message.  Here’s how to make one of your own.

Gather These Supplies

Paint lid (inside section), all 4 sides of cube, and 2 small wood hearts with Engine Red. Allow to dry.  Paint edges of lid, base of cube, 2 small wood hearts, and bird’s beak with Pink Balloon. Allow to dry.

Paint over areas with Engine Red with several coats of Red Extreme Glitter. Allow to dry between coats.

Paint bird’s body and silk flowers with several coats of Red Extreme Glitter. Set aside to dry.

Paint over areas with Pink Balloon with several coats of Hologram Extreme Glitter. Allow to dry between coats.

Create a small banner with pink felt and red embroidery floss. Tie small bows on each end.

To finish the project, attach ric rac trim around lower sides of cube with hot glue.  Use pink ribbon to make 2 bows.  Add rhinestones to small heart centers.  Secure all embellishments with hot glue: 2 pink bows on top of opposite sides of cube with small red hearts, 2 love banners with red flowers behind small pink hearts on opposite sides of cube, Craft boa as a “nest” for the bird with bird in center of lid.  Allow project to dry for 24 hours before using.
