Make it Monday: Black & White Pumpkins

Typically when people think of decorating pumpkins, they are generally decoration with only Halloween in mind. This doesn’t need to be the case, you can use pumpkins as decorative items throughout the fall and winter season. Take a cue from designer, Laura Bray. These elegant black and white pumpkins can be used for Halloween, but feel free to leave them up all the way till Christmas. Don’t be intimidated by these pumpkins ornate designs, this is a beginner level craft project that will only take a little longer than an hour to create. Laura used all FolkArt craft paints and stencils to create these amazing pumpkins. Below find all the supplies you will need, along with their instructions. Happy crafting!

Plaid Supplies

FolkArt Acrylic Paint-662 Metallic Silver Sterling, FolkArt Acrylic Paint-659 Metallic Pearl White, FolkArt Extreme Glitter-2796 Hologram, FolkArt Extreme Glitter-2797 Black, Peel & Stick Stencil-Architectural Fleur-30457

Other Supplies

White and black fake pumpkins, Mini wood frames, Crystal stickers in letters, swirls and flourishes, Hot glue

Instructions

  1. Coat the pumpkins with Extreme Glitter.  Use Hologram for the white pumpkins and Black for the black pumpkins.  Paint the stems of the pumpkins in Silver Sterling.
  2. While the pumpkins are drying, paint the mini wood frames with the FolkArt Metallic paints in Silver Sterling & Pearl White.  Allow to dry and then coat the frames with the Extreme Glitter in Hologram (on the white frames) and Black (on the black frames.
  3. Using a stencil and Pearl White paint, paint a silhouette on the largest pumpkin in the center of the pumpkin.  Allow to dry.
  4. Hot glue the frames onto the center of the pumpkins.  Make sure to center your silhouette in the frame on the largest pumpkin.
  5. Add crystal sticker monograms to the center of the other two frames.  Embellish inside the frames and around the frames with the swirls & flourishes crystal stickers.
