1. Silkscreen stencils can be applied to any nonporous glass or ceramic surface. For best results, the surface should be smooth. Clean the area to be painted with soap and water. Wipe with rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining residue.
2. Place objects on a flat surface large enough to accommodate your project. Create a unique pattern by repeating a silkscreen over an area. Arrange designs in a grid for a structured look, or apply randomly for a playful, organic effect.
Make sure to plan and measure both the silkscreen and the surface. To get an idea of what it will look like before you commit to paint, copy and print the design on paper first and tape it to your surface. Finalize your design and mark the placement with a wax pencil. For a look that’s cohesive and natural, limit your palette to one, two, or three colors. Use varying shades of one color, complementary colors, or colors in the same family (warm tones, cool, tones, rich tones, pastels, etc.).
