Fall is an amazing season. The autumn hues are so vibrant and inviting. Why not bring these colors inside and use them as inspiration to warm up your home, during these colder months? There are several ways you can add some autumn spice to any room in your home. Try adding some warm colored accent pillows, or a plush colored chenille throw. If you really want to go further in your decorating, try painting a room using a vibrant orange hue, or soothing brown color. Halloween may be right around the corner but, there is still plenty of time to create something special for your home or for that spirited party planned. This unique and easy hanging frame décor featuring Martha Stewart Crafts™ can be done within a day. The compliments won’t stop from your ghoulish guests.
Here is all you will need:
Martha Stewart Crafts™ Multi Surface Satin Acrylic Craft Paint – 32057 Mace, 32082 Beetle Black, 32084 Green Curry, Martha Stewart Crafts™ Multi Surface Glitter Acrylic Craft Paint – 32161 Peridot, Martha Stewart Crafts™ Stencil Set – 32273 Looped Script, Martha Stewart Crafts™ Patterning Tape – 32238, Martha Stewart Crafts™ Stencil Tape – 32292, Martha Stewart Crafts™ Foam Pouncers – 32243, Martha Stewart Crafts™ Adhesive Stencil Film – 32250, 2 – 8” x 10” black picture frames, 1 – 5” x 7” black picture frame, 4 – eye hooks, 4 – cup hooks, Orange gros grain ribbon, Pliers, Adhesive glue, Paper/pencil, Ruler, #1 liner brush, Craft knife/cutting surface
Print out your pattern and gather your supplies. Remove the glass from your frames and punch out the letters needed for your words.
Place your pattern on your cutting surface and tape a piece of adhesive stencil over it.
Cut your stencil like this and set aside.
On a piece of paper, trace your words out to create a pattern for stenciling.
Find the center of your 5 x 7 glass and place a strip of the ¼” patterning tape.
Place three more strips of tape equally spaced on either side of center strip.
Apply Mace with a pouncer over tape. When slightly dry, apply more coats if needed.
Carefully remove tape from glass. You can clean up any fuzzy edges with your craft knife.
Tape your face pattern under the glass for positioning, then place your adhesive stencil on top of glass.
Apply Beetle Black and remove stencil…now your middle piece is done!
Center and tape your traced out words to the back of the 8 x 10 pieces of glass.
Apply Green Curry to letters and Beetle Black to stencil flourish.
Use brush to paint Peridot Glitter over letters, Apply several coats as needed.
Cut two 5” x 8 ½” pieces of paper…center and tape over the front of your stenciled words.
Flip your glass over and tape off rectangle.
Apply several coats of Mace and remove tape.
Paint your eye hooks and cup hooks with Beetle Black. A tip is to stick them in a piece of Styrofoam or something to hold them so you won’t have to when painting…let dry.
Measure in 2 ½” from ends of larger frames and mark with pencil for hooks.
Place a piece of tape to mark center for large and small frames. Line up centers and then mark on smaller frame where you marked on larger frame for exact hook line up.
Use your craft knife to start a hold and screw in your hooks. Cup hooks on one frame and eye hooks on other frame.
Create a bow from ribbon leaving long tails and secure bow with glue so it won’t untie.
Remove glass holders from frames with pliers. Apply adhesive glue to inside edge of frames and insert your glass pieces.
Glue hanger at desired length and cut off excess.
Hook your frames together and hang your eye-catching Halloween décor!

Halloween has always been a favorite and fun holiday. It’s not just for kids anymore and Halloween crafting and décor is fast becoming a seriously hot trend. Pairing elegant with Halloween takes crafting in a new direction and this hanging wreath shows what levels you can go to.
Here is what you’ll need:
FolkArt® Acrylic Paint – 479 Pure Black, 660 Pure Gold, 741 Glazed Carrots, 2577 Toasted Vanilla
FolkArt® Extreme Glitter™ – 2786 Gold, 2793 Orange, 2797 Black
FolkArt® Crackle Medium – 696
Wood bird cut out, 3” wood disk, 14” paper Mache or wood wreath, Black feathers, Glue, #1 Liner brush, ½” Flat brush,
Pencil, Black/Cream damask ribbon, Wire, Scissors, Antique gold purse/drapery ring, a Ruler
Gather your supplies…
Basecoat your wreath and bird with Pure Black.
Let dry thoroughly.
Generously apply Crackle Medium to wreath in a slip slap motion.
This is what it will look like when completely covered. Set aside to dry while you go on to something else. It should lose its shiny appearance when dry.
Apply Black Exteme Glitter to bird. Let dry between coats and apply as many coats as desired for maximum glitter.
Paint your wood disk with Glazed Carrots and when dry, apply Orange Extreme Glitter. Extreme Glitter is awesome anytime but, it’s especially awesome for Halloween!
Now let’s crackle! It’s no secret that I love crackle so I have to use it again here. Apply Toasted Vanilla in the same slip slap motion all over the wreath.
Try not to overlap where you started as it will already have crackled by the time you get around the wreath. It’s so cool to watch!
Ta da!
Paint the inner and outer lip with Pure Gold.
Now apply the Gold Extreme Glitter.
Rub your pencil over the back of your flying witch pattern.
Trace onto your glittered disk. Press hard as the surface will be slightly rough.
It will be slightly hard to see but, there will be enough to go by.
Paint your witch with a liner brush in Pure Black. Keep your pattern handy to refer to if any parts are too hard to read.
Paint a few starburst shapes and you are done with the moon!
Paint accent lines on crow with liner brush. Create eye by using opposite end of brush dipped in paint.
Starting at sixteen inches, cut lengths of ribbon descending in size to about nine inches.
Fold each length in on itself and glue at the center.
When all your loops are glued, stack them and tie in center with wire.
Fan the loops out to create bow.
Glue a small piece of ribbon around center to hide wire.
Cut two lengths of ribbon and glue back to back for hanger.
Glue feathers to bottom end of wreath.
Glue bird and moon in place.
Glue bow and hanger ribbon in place.
Thread ring through loose end of hanger and secure at desired length.

Last Friday we attended a special in store event, for Michael’s Reward Members. This in store event was a huge success. It featured Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza, along with Mod Podge Rocks, Amy Anderson. Cathie and Steve did a live Q&A with members, that was also live streamed to viewers online. Afterwards, all three craft celebrities assisted the crowd with making some craft projects. All attendees had the opportunity to select from three craft projects to make. They could make one, or all three projects. Everyone there has lots of fun. We even did several giveaways, of Mod Podge filled gift baskets. We will be posting some video of the event later on this week, so be sure to check back to see it. Hopefully we will see you next time, at the next Michaels in store event.

So many people attended, that the staff at Michaels even had to add additional tables to accommodate everyone.
Aside from my love of painting while crafting, I also enjoy painting my nails. OPI released their new Fall 2011 nail polish colors collection called, Touring America. The colors in this palette were inspired by American cities. The colors featured very creative clever names inspired by some of OPI’s favorite American spots. Some of the colors’ names are: Are We There Yet, I eat Mainely Lobster, My address is “Hollywood”, Color to Diner for, and Honk If You Love OPI. Which color from the new fall line would you paint your nails with?

Whenever you feel that you need a change to any room, why not try adding a pop of color to it? It may seem a bit odd to some, but believe me it is a very hot trend right now. This trend can be seen in many different design houses and publications. Why not try this trend out for yourself. If I was going to add a pop of color to the room of my choice it would be to my bedroom. Ideally I would like to try something similar to this room. This room was found on a website called, New York Spaces. The hot pink wall really adds some punch to this room. It is modern and chic. This color palette is very unique and interesting. I love that bright hues, and paired with the classic colors of black and white. Have you ever only painted one wall a different color than the rest?
