Scene it Saturday: DIY Decoupage Furniture
By now you probably know that Mod Podge is an essential product to craft with, but did you know it could be used on furniture projects as well? Here is a video that displays a great example of this. Scene it Saturday: Create Color Block Purse and Shoes with Apple Barrel Paint
Color blocking is a huge trend right now. I am sure you have seen this trend on many handbags and shoes. Well in case you are looking for an affordable way to stay in style, watch this video to learn how to color block your own accessories. In this video you will see how a girl transformed a handbag and shoes, with several Apple Barrel colors. I love this idea, and she gives great easy to follow instructions on how to recreate this look. This is a great craft project to tackle over the weekend. Make it Monday: DIY Bib Necklace with Mod Podge
Happy Monday! Hope you had an awesome weekend. Did you happen to do any crafting over the weekend, or discover a new craft to create? This weekend I did discover a very chic and creative project. Check out this DIY Bib Necklace, made with fabric Mod Podge. Stacie from Stars for Streetlights designed this necklace. Isn’t it so cute? I love seeing crafts that can be worn. Bib necklaces are very on trend right now and can be worn with a basic top or dress, to add a little pizazz. As you can see Stacie paired her necklace with a basic denim top. It is a great accessory to add to your wardrobe, and best of all you can make it yourself. Below you will find the supplies needed for this project, and the first few steps on how to create this. You need:
-Fabric Mod Podge
-Fabric
-Sewing Machine
-Silk flowers
-Ribbon
-Brush to spread Mod Podge
-Needle & Thread
-Beads, sequins, etc.
Step 1: First you need to take your silk flowers and tear them off their stems. I used similar colors, but you can always use a variety of colors to make a more vibrant necklace.
Next, you trace the outline of your necklace base on the fabric. Make sure you have 2 layers of fabric because you will sew them together. Stitch around your outline leaving two little spots on the sides where your ribbon will go.
Flip your sewn shape inside out and stitch the ribbons inside the little bib. I took my iron and ironed the shape flat, I think it just makes it more flat and crisp.

Freelance Friday: Glittering Flower Hair Clips
Hooray! It’s Friday, and the weekend is here. Looking for something creative to craft? Try these glittering flower hair clips. Women of all ages love to adorn their hair from time to time with hair accessories. From headbands to hair bows, we all have decorated our heads with something. Here is another accessory option that you can make. This glittering flower clip is very trendy and perfect for spring. I stumbled across this creation, on Pigs in Pajamas. This hair clip was created using flowers from Michaels, mod podge, and glitter. I love this project, because it is so fun and can be decorated in various ways. You can perhaps spray paint the flower, or use glitter paint from FolkArt or Martha Stewart paint lines. The possibilities are endless. The chevron pattern is one of the hottest craft trends this year. This pattern has been seen everywhere, from furniture to clothing. Here is a great project that incorporates this popular trend. This chevron tray is so cute. Trays are a great surface to craft on. Have you ever tried upcycling a basic tray? See below how you can create your very own chevron tray. This is a perfect craft project to create for spring. Have you created anything with the chevron pattern lately?
Plaid Supplies
- FolkArt Acrylic Paint – 901 Wicker White
- FolkArt Acrylic Paint – 2553 Lime Green
- Mod Podge
Other Supplies
- Painting trim kit with roller, Painter’s tape, Craft knife, measuring tape or small ruler, Paintbrush for touch ups, and Foam paintbrush
Instructions
1. Using the paint roller in the trim kit, coat the bottom and sides or the tray with Wicker White.
2. Let dry and repeat. Give the tray a second coat to insure even coverage.
3. Create the chevron pattern using the painter’s tape and measuring tape or ruler. Use the craft knife to cut the tape in corners or to remove excess.
4. To prevent bleeding a light coat of Wicker White can be applied over the edges of the painter’s tape pattern.
5. Use the paint roller to apply Lime Green paint over top of the chevron pattern and sides of the tray.
6. Let dry for several hours.
7. Remove tape revealing the completed pattern.
8. Use a paint brush to correct any bleeding.

Scene it Saturday: DIY Glitter Bottoms
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We wanted to share a cool video we recently stumbled upon, from YouTube. Have you heard of red bottoms? Usually the phrase red bottoms refers to the ultra fabulous Christian Louboutin shoes, and their signature red color bottom soles. This red color distinguishes them and sets them apart from other shoes. Well if you are looking for a chic way to make your shoes standout try adding some glitter to the soles. Freelance Friday: DIY Painted Toms

It seems like everywhere I look nowadays, all I see are DIY shoes. Shoes have definitely become one of the most popular surfaces to craft on. I am constantly amazed to see how creative and crafty people can get with them. One that recently caught my eye were these DIY painted Toms. A girl named Lauren created these shoes. You can check out her craft blog, Lauren Acklin, here. As you can see from the before picture, these shoes are very basic and simple. All white, that’s what you get, until this designer added some Apple Barrel paint to them. I love these shoes, and how they were designed. Web Wednesday: Mod Podge Comic Book Bracelets
Yay, it’s hump day! Hope your week is going well. Today I wanted to share this unique and fun project with you. I love discovering craft projects on the web, and this one was definitely one that caught my eye. Are you a fan of comics? Well, if you are you will love this comic book cuff. I found this project on a blog, called Don’t Eat The Paste (a great name and good advice). One reason I wanted to share this craft, was to show you how mod podge can be used on metal. The cuff used is made of metal. Mod Podge is a very versatile product that can be used on several surfaces. To create this comic book cuff, you will need the following supplies below,
- comic book*
- bracelet blank
- ModPodge- I used Sparkle because I’m a magpie.
- Foam brush
- Paper plate
- scissors
- printable cutting templates
- rubbing alcohol
