Teaching Thursdays: Pumpkin Plaque

Your Halloween décor will “stand-out” with this cute pumpkin plaque. Designed by the talented Laura Bray this project was created using FolkArt acrylic paint, and Mod Podge. This plaque would look great hanging from a wall or a door in your home. This project is for any level crafter, and takes up to an hour to complete. Not everything you create for Halloween needs to be spooky, take this cue from Laura and create a more decorative project for the holiday.

Plaid Supplies

FolkArt Acrylic Paint-2576 Vivid Orange,  FolkArt Acrylic Paint-4032 Licorice, Mod Podge

Other Supplies

Unfinished wood plaque, Polka dot scrapbook paper, Mini faux pumpkins, Fabric scraps in black and white, Polka dot ribbon, Black pipe cleaner, Craft glue

Instructions

  1. Paint the wood plaque in orange and black.  Allow to dry completely.
  2. Using Mod Podge, apply a piece of scrapbook paper to the center of the plaque.  Set aside to dry.
  3. Carefully cut the faux mini pumpkins in half.  A serrated knife works well for this task.
  4. Use Mod Podge to cover the pumpkin halves in fabric scraps.
  5. Glue pumpkins onto the center of the plaque.
  6. Cut small pieces of pipe cleaner to use as the stems of the pumpkins and glue down at the top of the pumpkin.
  7. Glue ribbon onto the plaque to further embellish the project.
