Wednesday with Handmade Charlotte: Colorful DIY Projects

This week I’m bringing you more DIY projects that will knock your socks off. I scoured the internet and discovered colorful and unexpected projects. These projects were made using everyday materials and objects. The more I search for crafts, the more super crafty DIYers I find–just like you! Keep sending in your cool crafts and projects, I would love to see them.

Before I go, I wanted to remind you all to check out my latest featuring FolkArt enamel paint. I used copper pipe from the hardware store and made a really cool necklace. I’m in love with this project and how well it works with the enamel paint. Copper is also known to have healing properties, so wearing it around your neck can make you feel great, too. What could be better than that?See you next week!

Paint Me Plaid: Guest Blogger – The V Spot

We are half way through the week, and have a special treat to share with you today. We here at Paint Me Plaid love to showcase other craft bloggers create. Today we have a guest blogger, Vivienne, from The V Spot. She is here to share with you a wonderful project to create. Enjoy!

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a fun and easy project using Mod Podge and beverage napkins from the Dollar Store. This Hurricane candle holder was for Halloween, but with all of the different patterns, colors and themes of the seasonal napkins out there, the possibilities are endless.

This was incredibly easy to do and took all of 5 minutes, not counting drying time.

Supplies:
  • Mod Podge
  • beverage napkins
  • clean glass jar
  • paint brush
  • yarn or ribbon

First, grab some cute beverage napkins from the Dollar Store and an empty glass jar.
Make sure you completely remove the label on the jar. Next, completely unfold the napkin. It is probably two ply, so carefully peel the printed layer away from the solid layer.
Cut it to fit so that it will wrap all the way around your jar. Coat the jar with Mod Podge and gently press your napkin into place. Gently work it all the way around the jar. Do not rub it or press too hard, as the napkin will tear. Let the jar sit and dry.
The napkin wasn’t as tall as the jar, so once dry, I opted to wrap a little black yarn around the top of the napkin up to the mouth of the jar.
