Create This Happy Pumpkin Glass Block

Get ready folks, Paint Me Plaid is going to be showing you tons of great project ideas to create for this upcoming Halloween. Here is one that I am in love with. This adorable glowing pumpkin is so unique, and I am always fascinated by anything that lights up. One of our talented designers, Julie Lewis created this project.  See below for all the supplies and the instructions on how to make this adorable and fun Halloween project. Supplies

PLAID Supplies

  • Plaid ® Glass Surfaces – Large Glass Block
  • FolkArt ® Peel & Stick Painting Stencils™ – Blank
  • FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Pure Orange, 2 oz.
  • FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Licorice, 2 oz.
Other Supplies
Craft knife
¾” tape
#1 Liner brush
Dauber set
Ruler

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly clean glass block before painting.
  2. Tape off outer edge of block using ¾” tape.
  3. Place strips of 1/8” tape 7/8” apart starting at center.
  4. Cut face pattern from stencil blank and place onto glass block over tape strips.
  5. Using dauber, apply Pure Orange over front of block. Let dry slightly and apply second coat. Add third coat if desired. Carefully remove stencil and tape. Clean up any rough edges by gently scraping with craft knife.
  6. When completely dry, place eye and teeth stencils onto block and apply Licorice.
  7. Using Liner brush, add nose and eyebrow details.
  8. Let cure referring to bottle instructions.

    Emily, I just found glass blocks at Walmart in the craft section. I think they advertise as a bank and vase. There is a hole at one of the ends. $8. Hope this helps.

    Emily=-==I bet the ones sold at places like Home Depot or Lowes do not come with the holes in them…you’d have to buy from a craft store. OR….you’d have to use a drill bit for glass and make the hole yourself.
    Diana—I like how you used batter operated lights—that is a great idea for the tripping problem. I am inspired now to make a Halloweenish one with lights…not long–only a month til can decorate for Hallloween!

    How do you get the lights inside? The one I have doesn’t have a hole in it. If you have to drill your own hole for the lights, how do you do it?

    So cute!!!! More ideas please. I just bought 4 sets of the battery operated string lights. The battery operated ones are good for centerpieces on a table so people aren’t tripping over a power cord. I planned to get the glass crafty blocks next week so thanks for the idea.
