Since we’re celebrating Earth Day for the entire week, today we wanted to discuss the popular trend of upcycling. Similar to recycling, upcycling is a great way to reuse materials from around your home, and in the end it helps reduce your carbon footprint.
The trend of upcycling has seen a huge growth within the last few years. One reason this is happening is due to the large DIY niche. Many more people are looking around their homes and thrift stores, for items they can repurpose and add their own unique spin to.

Everyone now a days is looking for ways to take something old, and make it new again. Upcycling, and renewing are very big craft trends right now. Here is a video that will show you how to take a plain clock, and spruce it up with some Mod Podge. This is such a cool project to create. The video is very short, and easy to understand. You can update you home decor without buying anything from a department store. Upcycling your interior furnishings does not have to be expensive. You can create something chic for your home, at an affordable price. Have you renewed any of your home furnishings lately?

One of our favorite craft blogs, Pretty Hand Girl recently shared this easy decoupage glass plate craft project with us. It is super simple and cute. It’s also a great upcycling project. So get out some of your old dishes and give them a renewed look for this new year.
The materials you will need:
- Mod Podge Glossy
- Paint Brush
- Jar of Water
- Glass Cleaner
- Paper Towels
- Scrapbook Paper (thin works better)
- Glass Plates
- Recycled Jar or Cans to Dry Plates on
1. Clean the bottom of the glass plates with glass cleaner.
2. Trace around the plate on the scrapbook paper.
3. Cut out the circle.
