I think one of the most gratifying holiday crafts is an ornament. Typically they aren’t large (unless you are decorating the tree in Rockefeller Plaza), and you can complete one in a few hours at most. I’ve also seen several fun shapes at the craft store . . . like the one above. The ornate aspect of the ornament above was achieved with FolkArt Extreme Glitter, gems and some gold ric-rac. A lot of bling for just a little investment! Designer Karen Embry made this beautiful ornament, and you can too. Find the complete instructions here.
I think this project from Ana of When Creativity Knocks is SUPER creative – and I had to share! Have you ever thought to make a christmas ornament out of a wood bangle bracelet? Using stamps, FolkArt Acrylic Paint and FolkArt Extreme Glitter? Neither have I, but Ana did. When Creativity Knocks actually filmed this video at Maker Faire in NY, and it’s completely appropriate for an upcoming weekend craft. View the full video here.
Have you made an ornament with FolkArt Extreme Glitter yet? No? Well you really must. Not only is the paint gorgeous as you can see, but it’s a fun and economical way to celebrate Christmas and holiday crafting. Making glitter ornaments is easy, and you can make several of these at once for fabulous gifts. I show you how make the ornament above (with free line art!) on Infarrantly Creative today for her Pennywise Presents series. Please visit here for the complete tutorial.
PS – the glitter comes in eleven fabulous colors. Go here for the palette.
I know it’s the week before Halloween, but Plaid is having a holiday contest that I have to tell you about! We’re celebrating the 12 Weeks of Christmas, and we hope you’ll celebrate with us. Read about the contest and submit your project here!
In addition to holding a contest, we are featuring projects in fun holiday themes each week. Week 2 was FolkArt Extreme Glitter, and designer Julie Lewis painted the beautiful sparkly tree ornament above (you can get the instructions here). Come join the fun each week as we release new holiday projects at PlaidOnline.com.
Is it too early to think about holiday decor? Absolutely not in the world of crafts! It may seem like it’s far away, but in crafting terms it’s right around the corner. With the tight economy, handmade gifts are going to be a staple this year. Get it on the crafting action!
Plaid is celebrating the 12 weeks before Christmas, and one of our featured projects is this Santa frame ornament duo. You simply paint the frames, insert some scrapbook paper and then paint the designs within. These are so tiny that it goes quickly – you can have these done in a couple of hours this weekend! Visit the complete instructions here.
I’d also like to remind you that Plaid is having a pretty fantabulous contest to celebrate crafting for the holidays. You can win cash and prizes just for submitting a picture of what you made. Click on the banner above for more details.
I love this guy! He makes me so, so happy with his smiling face and button nose. Did you know that ornaments aren’t just for Christmas anymore? Yep! They are for all holidays, and you should make one for Halloween. You can have a cute little painted black tree with tons of Halloween ornaments, and you definitely need this jack-o-lantern to be one of them. He’s made with FolkArt Acrylic paint, and you can find the complete instructions right here.
PS – Don’t forget about our Trick Your Pumpkin contest! You can win great prizes, and all for entering a picture of a cute little punkin ornament like this one. Co-sponsored by Craft Critique; visit here for the rules and information.
