Could we get some drumrolls, please? We’re thrilled to introduce a NEW line of paint from FolkArt! The new FolkArt® Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic paint launches at Michaels Stores today in forty vibrant colors in project-perfect two ounce bottles.
So what’s so special about this new paint? To give you the exclusive lowdown on it, we chatted with the brand’s Product Manager Michele McKinzie.
How are you involved with the launch of FolkArt Multi-Surface? As a Product Manager, it’s my job to come up with the next great paint for crafting. The biggest part of that is finding out what consumers want to accomplish when it comes to crafting and how our team can make it easy for you to do at home.
What’s special about this paint? FolkArt Multi-Surface works on almost any surface you can imagine. This means you can buy several colors and use them across several projects, creating coordinating projects without having to buy several different types of paint. You don’t have to worry about the right paint for a particular surface but just one paint, making crafting a no brainer! Plus, we chose to debut it in a beautiful satin finish because that’s what is trending right now. The versatility of the paint is also great since pieces are top shelf dishwasher safe and can be used for outdoor projects, too.
You’ve had the chance to be with this launch from the very beginning. What else did the team consider throughout the process? We wanted a paint that you can use to create multiple projects on multiple surfaces without having to buy so many different types of paint. With finances a consideration in so many households, the DIY movement and handmade gifts have become popular again, and it isn’t making just one item. Crafters often want to be able to create gift sets, and the best way to do that is to use the same colors on each project. We’re excited to offer our Multi-Surface as one bottle that works on just about anything.
What’s your favorite color? “Look At Me Blue” is my favorite! It’s bright, cheerful and coordinates with so many of the other bright colors in the line.
Being in such a creative field, how do you stay inspired and find trends? I browse magazines, Pinterest and even things that I see in stores inspire me. I would have to say though that my best inspiration comes from the people I work with at Plaid. My co-workers are so creative and many of them love to craft themselves.
Do you get the chance to craft yourself? My schedule at home is so crazy that I really don’t have time to craft. We have started having what’s called “Lunch and Learn” at Plaid HQ once a month where we eat together as a group and then craft with the new products that are getting ready to hit retail. It’s so much fun to sit and watch the creativity flow.
