TGIF Project: Traditional Poppy Vase

Blue is my favorite color in the whole world, especially blues of the turquoise variety.  That is one of the things that lead me to fall in love with this gorgeous Gallery Glass vase by Cathie and Steve.  You can definitely use it for flowers (the Gallery Glass is on the outside), and it also makes a gorgeous piece for home decor purposes once the flowers are removed.  You don’t have to lead, so it will take you about 20 minutes to whip up.  Find the complete instructions here.

Have you been to our new Plaid blog, Gallery Glass Class?  It’s by our resident expert Carol Smith, and there are all sorts of ideas (and patterns) to get you started.  Please pay us a visit!

Technique Thursday: Gallery Glass Window Color

Last week we introduced you to Gallery Glass leading – hopefully you’ve given it a try!  Leading is fun, but the *really* fun part of Gallery Glass is the Window Color. If you’ve never tried it before, check out the video below to learn how to use it. It’s really a blast!

Just so you know, not all Gallery Glass projects require Liquid Lead. Some projects, like the fish bowl home decor piece below, just use Window Color! It works great on its own. Click on the picture to be taken to the project instructions.

A Painted Broom Makes Sweeping More Fun

I actually like sweeping, but I know a lot of people don’t.  What might make sweeping more fun?  Painted cleaning accessories, of course!  This brightly colored broom painted by the awesome ladies at Little Birdie Secrets caught my eye and I had to share. It uses FolkArt paint, so I especially had to share!  The painting is easy and the resulting broom is cute, so you should check out the tutorial here.
