It is officially the first day of spring. Yay 
. This is absolutely one of my favorite times of the year. I love seeing the trees and flowers in bloom, and I love all the hot new spring fashions. One huge trend you will see with spring fashion, is color-blocking. In case you are not familiar with this term or trend, it is very simple. Color-blocking is when a garment or outfit is composed of finite blocks of color. This trend was first seen in 1960s and again in 1980s. This is a fairly simple trend to create, and wear. This is a great trend during this time of year, because of all the vibrant colors one can use. Take the images above. These are all great exmples of how to color-block. The beginning of the year is the most popular time for people to want to organize their lives. For many people one of the biggest things they want to organize is, a room in their home. If you are crafter, more than likely you craft room could use some organization. All month here on Paint Me Plaid, and www.plaidonline.com, we have been posting projects and articles to help give you suggestions on how to organize your crafts. Here is another great example of how to organize your craft room. I recently stumbled across this image online. I love how this basic bookshelf was turned into a creative storage space. It also doesn’t hurt that the color scheme has a Valentine’s theme to it. This would be a very simple way to get organized. Is home decorating one of your new year’s resolutions? Well if so there are some great new trends to look to for inspiration in 2012. One trend with home decor is adding a splash of color to your rooms. According to Deborah Wecselman of DWD Inc. she suggests starting with neutral hues of taupe, beige, cream, grey, black and white, and then adding unexpected pops of color with bold accessories from bright yellow paintings to royal blue vases. This nursery is a great example of this trend. The base of the room is painted white, and then there are several accent colors used to spice things up. The standout out color is the Tangerine Tango hue. This color by the way is the top color pick of 2012 according to, Pantone. So keep this in mind when you are about to decorate one of your room in this new year. Don’t be afraid to add a splash of color.

Only 5 more days until Christmas. Aren’t you so excited? I know I am. Have you already finished decorating your Christmas tree? I have to admit, I have not even put mine up yet. I know many people have had their trees up since Thanksgiving. When it comes to decorating a tree there are several ways you can do this. Some people prefer a very traditional decorated tree, others like only using one color to decorate the entire tree. Whatever way you decide to decorate there is no right or wrong way. This is one of the many reasons people look forward to dressing their Christmas trees. Although I do not have my tree up yet, I think I am leaning towards using a lot of metallic color ornaments. I was looking around Pinterest for some ideas, and I came across this tree. I love these decorations, because they are simple in shape yet vibrant in color.
