Have you seen this pattern before? I don’t know about you, but I have been seeing this all over the place. I have seen in on several craft and interior sites, and just the other day I even saw it in Target. The name of this pattern is called, Chevron. The Chevron pattern is definitely one of the hot trends in crafting for 2012. Here is a little bit of information about the Chevron patter. It is an inverted V-shaped pattern. This pattern has been around for a long time. The chevron occurs in early art including designs on pottery and rock carvings. Early examples of this pattern can be traced all the way back to 1800 BC. I guess it’s true that trends always find a way to resurface. Below are some examples of the Chevron pattern used in crafts/DIY projects, as well as home decor. Want to get your little girls involved and in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit? Well create this St. Patrick’s Day Ruffled Shirt. This shirt was created by Brook from, Being Brook. We first found this adorable project over on one of craft friend’s blog, Infarrantly Creative. Some of the supplies Brook used to make this included, t-shirt fabric, freezer paper, and Martha Stewart craft paints. This is a great shirt for your little one to wear on St. Patrick’s Day. Pair this long top with some jazzy leggings, and you will have one cute outfit.

Organization is a skill that can be taught. For many people they often struggle to stay organized, and have a hard time finding necessary items in a timely manner. Well we here at Plaid have the prefect solution to solve this issue. These pretty stacking organizers can make organizing papers, easy and pleasing to the eye all at the same time. This craft is a fun way to keep your desk tidy! These stacking organizers were created by, Kirsten Jones.

PLAID Supplies

• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Bright Baby Pink, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Pink, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Wicker White, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Licorice, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Fresh Foliage, 2 oz.
• Mod Podge ® Gloss, 4 oz.

Instructions

1. Base-coat boxes with Wicker White, let dry.
2. Paint small box Fresh Foliage, medium box with Bright Baby Pink and large with Pink. Let dry.
3. Using box as a pattern, cut paper to fit on all four sides.
4. Following general directions on Mod Podge bottle, apply paper to trays. Let dry.
5. Paint bottom of each tray with Licorice. Let dry.
6. Using liner brush and Wicker White add words to the inside bottom of each tray.
7. Let dry, then seal with a coat of Mod Podge.

• FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Warm White, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Baby Pink, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Engine Red, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Yellow Ochre, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Licorice, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Enamels™ – Yellow Citron, 2 oz.

Other Supplies
Transfer paper, Tape, Liner brush #1, Flat brush ½” and ¼”, Hobby Lobby metal canister #470617-L, Black ultra fine marker, and Ruler

Instructions

1.      Measure 2” from top and bottom of canister. Tape off and paint Baby Pink.

2.      Transfer pattern to front of canister. Paint apples Yellow Ochre, Engine Red and Yellow Citron.

3.      Paint arms, legs leaves and stems with liner brush in Licorice.

4.      Create flowers randomly on canister with liner brush.

5.      All dots are applied using opposite end of different size brushes.

6.      Using flat brush, paint stripes to edge of lid.

7.      Draw mouths using black marker.

8.      Let paint cure thoroughly.

I have to admit I have an obsession. I love shoes! There I said it, please don’t judge me . I am sure I am not alone in my obsession. There are so many wonderful shoes out there. I wish I could buy them all. Since I can’t, I need to be creative and find inexpensive ways to jazz up some shoes. Usually the shoes I love most, are by a high end designers, and they have an astronomical price tag. My way of getting around this issue, is looking for something similar in style for less. I often times can find a similar style, but in the event I can’t there is the option to create it myself. Take these Miu Miu sneakers. Erica from Honestly WTF, created these chic sneakers herself. Happy Friday . It is the weekend and we here at Paint Me Plaid would like to give you a craft project to work on. In every home there is a rug, and usually most rugs aren’t very decorative. A door mat, or bathroom mat typically aren’t you most chic looking rugs. Well that can change very quickly with a stencil, and some Martha Stewart craft paint. Here is a great example of how you can spruce up a boring rug. We found this rug on a blog called, Living with Lindsay. To see how she made this click here. • FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Bright Green, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Extreme Glitter™ – Peridot, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Extreme Glitter™ – Emerald, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Wicker White, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Licorice, 2 oz.
• FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors – Fresh Foliage, 2 oz.

Other Supplies

#6 Flat paintbrush, ½“ Flat paintbrush, Spouncer, Painters tape 1 ½”, Large oval wood plaque, and Dot scrap book paper

Instructions

1.   Base-coat plaque with Fresh Foliage. Let dry.

2.   Using painters tape, tape off stripes as shown. Paint stripes with Bright Green. Let dry.

3.   Using spouncer, add Emerald Glitter over Bright Green Stripes. Let dry.

4.   Remove tape and add Glitter to light green stripe with Peridot. Let dry.

5.   Cut out 2 clovers from scrapbook paper.  Following general directions on Mod Podge, apply clovers to plaque as shown.  Let dry.

6.   Write KISS and IRISH using Licorice and small flat brush. Let dry.

7.   Write me and I’m using Wicker White and liner brush.  Let dry.

8.  Varnish with Gloss.
