I love to paint on surfaces that already have wonderful texture and a beautiful finish. Grasscloth is one of those surfaces. It’s natural, beautiful, and affordable. I cut some small squares of the cloth and using a few FolkArt paint colors I love, I stenciled these birds and bees stencil designs. These could be framed and made into wall art or varnished and used as coasters.

Handmade Charlotte Stencils are now available in Michaels Stores. I’m beyond excited and can’t wait for you to check them out. One of my favorite features of each set is they all come with an amazing alphabet in really cool typeface. My kids are headed back to school and I wanted to send them with a fun treat. They have snack time once a day and thought paper bag tents would be perfect! The tents would be a great party favor for an outdoor theme.
DIY Personalized Paper Bag Tent
- Folk Art Handmade Charlotte Kitchen Stencil Sets
- Brown Paper Bags Tape
- Index Card
First stencil the bag using the Handmade Charlotte type face of choice. Next, cut your paper bag in half and then fold flap over to tape. We stuck an index card on the bottom of the bag to give it a bit more stability. Fill your bag with treats and your done! Have fun snack making and let me know what typeface is your favorite!

Just in time for fall our FolkArt Handmade Charlotte stencil sets hit Michaels Stores next week! The “Woodland” set is absolutely one of my favorites and has amazing outdoor themed designs. All 8 sets will be available including the new “Kitchen” and “Woodland” sets!

Staying organized just got a lot more fun with this cute DIY stenciled pouch we crafted – we’re using ours as a make-up bag, but the humble pouch can be used in countless ways. If the bottom of your handbag looks anything like some of ours around here (read: floating bobby pins, receipts and gum), corral all those goods in a pouch for stress-free organizing. If you’re a mom, this is a cute way to get all your little one’s supplies together – pick a color that contrasts with your baby bag to make it easy to find!
- Martha Stewart Crafts™ 2oz Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Craft Paint – Gray Wolf
- Martha Stewart Crafts™ 6oz Tintable Fabric Medium
- Martha Stewart Crafts™ 6oz Brush And Stencil Cleaner
- Martha Stewart Crafts™ Arabesque Laser-Cut Stencils
- Martha Stewart Crafts™ Stencil Tape
- Martha Stewart Crafts™ Stencil Brush Set – 3pc
- Fabric zippered-pouch
- Small piece of cardboard
- Foam plates
- Water basin
- Put cardboard inside pouch to keep paint from bleeding through.
- Place stencil on your surface and secure using tape. If using spray adhesive, spray stencil first, then place on surface.
- Mix fabric medium with your paint before painting pillows, curtains, or other fabric accessories.
- Pour a small amount of paint onto your palette. Load paint sparingly on a stencil brush or sponge and dab off excess. Lightly dab on a thin layer of paint; apply a second coat if necessary. Paint all areas of one color on the stencil before moving on to the next.
- While paint is still wet, carefully peel off stencil.
- Continue painting areas of the stencil according to your design. Let the paint dry completely before placing another stencil (or color) over it.
- Wash all stencils, brushes, and tools immediately after use before the paint dries. Use Martha Stewart Crafts Brush & Stencil Cleaner to remove dried paint.
