We leave no stone unturned when we’re looking for inspiration. Or in this case, we leave no refrigerator closed. We love turning unexpected things into chalkboards, and the color options available in FolkArt Chalkboard paints gives us tons of possibilities and itchy painting fingers. Imagine how excited we got when we stumbled across TheKitchn.com and got an eye full of this awesome chalkboard refrigerator. Chichi painted her fridge the standard chalkboard green, but imagine how you could get creative with multiple chalkboard colors. You could paint blocks in different colors to signify menus, shopping lists, family notes, or whatever else you think of. Or, if you’re feeling really creative, and have some time, paint an entire scene on your fridge. No matter what, turning your refrigerator into a chalkboard will make it that much more useful and and some interest to your kitchen.

Almost two years ago I started a “Crafty Book Club” at our local library. If Oprah can do it, so can we, right?! It’s a great way for fellow crafters to meet and unwind from the daily grind. You can start your own Crafty Book Club too! Here are a few tips and ideas to get the pages turning…

When I moved back to California a few months ago, I was excited to find some new craft fairs in the area to browse through for new crafters and ideas. With all the moving in and setting up our new place, I hadn’t found the time, or the venue to do that until now. Friday, I found myself at the Long Beach Farmers Market and Craft Fair, held every week, just down the road from my house!

There are times, when I sit down to do a crafty project that I have a specific thing in mind to make. A gift, or a holiday decoration, a special request from a friend, or even a project to do for work all require color or “theme” inspiration to get my creative juices flowing. Then there are the projects I feel the need to make. Something outside my little world inspires me and I can’t get it out of my head until it comes out of my brush and onto my surface.
Let me tell you something about Plaid as a company – we love to work hard, but we have fun too! It’s a great place to work, and the above picture shows you one reason why I love it. Someone recently passed around the a “Find Your Inner Duck” quiz from Oriental Trading Company. We all took the quiz and posted our inner duck certificate! I’m a Superhero Duck – not too shabby. To find your inner duck, go here and take the quiz. Let us know what kind of duck you are in the comments!
One of my co-workers recently read a Real Simple issue on a plane, and was delighted to find this paint chip art ad by Matthew Sporzynski for Sherwin Williams. Apparently Matthew is a paper constructionist, and he’s done work for Real Simple before. The funny part about this whole thing is that the day before I saw the ad in print, my blogger friend Jess from How About Orange posted about these ads here. What this means to you is that if it’s on Paint Me Plaid and How About Orange, it must be really cool.
Hee hee.
