As the holidays get closer, many companies are throwing office Christmas parties. We here at Plaid Enterprises are no different. Yesterday, we had a company wide holiday party. Well it was actually a holiday luncheon, but felt like a party There were tons of great food, and lots of fun fellowship. Plaid employees love to get together, and celebrate the holidays. Many people wore their most tacky Christmas outfits, or added a Santa hat to their ensemble. During the luncheon we ate, laughed, and played games. Plaid’s President, Mike McCooey, even dressed up as one of the three wise men, and conducted a fun raffle. The winners of the raffle were given an extra vacation day! We here at Plaid know how to have a good time, and everyone did exactly that at this event. Happy Holidays to you and yours from Plaid Enterprises
Great holiday decorations!
It was a packed house. Almost everyone was there.

The last day of CHA is always bittersweet. After five days of being away from home, we’re ready to get back to our families – yet we’ll miss gawking over crafty supplies for days. Here are my final favorites of the show; don’t forget that you can see nearly everything featured at the show (including all the new product!) at Craft Critique.
I showed you another cabinet yesterday painted with blue; then I saw this one at the Prima booth and I loved it too!

CHA was SO FUN – I wish you all could have been there. There is so much to see that even in the four days I was there, I didn’t catch it all. I am going to give you a few posts about my favorite things, spotted and hearted. For in-depth coverage of nearly everything at the show, visit Craft Critique. Here are the products and booths that I loved at CHA.
I like going into tunnels, especially when it looks like there’s something fun on the other side, don’t you? Welcome to the EK Success booth.

Did you think we were done with the booth tour? Not even close! The Plaid booth was big and busy, which are two things we love to be during trade show! Here’s more of our fabulous displays, starting with Angela Anderson and Chris Williams hamming it up at the Plaid Extreme Glitter make-and-take station. How did these girls manage to keep their cheery smiles all day? Only they know the secret . . .

There’s so much going on at the Craft & Hobby Association’s Winter 2011 trade show that it’s hard to capture everything – but let’s start with a tour of our home base! We pulled out all of the stops this year and went crazy featuring projects with your favorite Plaid product. There are large display units with vignettes ranging from Denim Destruction (our new fashion product) to Learn to Paint (painting has never been easier!). We’re also very excited about our Social Media-Craft TV-PlaidOnline side of the booth – our digital media covers one whole aisle! The display is pretty amazing and makes a big impact. Cathie and Steve are demoing a frame and promoting their new series on Plaid Craft TV (click to see a preview!) Without further adieu, here are some photos from the show floor.
Cathie and Steve getting ready for a long day of making frames – they are always happy!

Plaid is about to head to the senior prom of the arts and crafts industry – the 2011 CHA Winter Trade Show in Los Angeles, CA! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, Craft Critique provides a great description of CHA and the event here. I’m also excited to let you know that CHA is having a live broadcast this year featuring Terri O! She’ll be doing interviews and telling us all about what’s new. You can find that webcast here.
We’ll be on a plane tomorrow morning, and I’ll have a regular technique post for you to hold you over until Friday. Once we get there, we’ll be doing live blogging from the show. There will be A LOT of pictures and updates. Keep in touch with us over the next few days and wish us luck on our trip. See you in L.A.!

Hey crafters! We had a holiday party here at Plaid today, and I had to share an awesome picture. This is our executive assistant Laynne with Santa – he distributed presents and congratulated everyone at Plaid for a job well done. Who is Santa? The world may never know . . .
Thanks to all of you who have made this year possible for us. We appreciate the support and Happy Holidays!
PS – Okay, I’ll tell you who Santa is. It’s Plaid’s President Mike McCooey – he was the perfect Jolly Old Saint Nick, and spread so much holiday cheer with his funny costume.

Belinda Harris, Consumer Affairs Manager at Plaid, was recently in Quebec teaching and exhibiting at Salon des Arts Décoratifs. This annual decorative painting expo is a hotbed of painting classes, exhibits, shows and contests. Belinda said the event started off with a bang, “Wow, Canadians are starving to learn to paint. There were over 800 people waiting in the hall ways, lobby and out the front door of the hotel to get into the showroom.”
In Belinda’s Tableau 3-D Dimensional Glass Painting class pictured above, 21 students paint on three stacked panes of glass with FolkArt Enamels. Belinda says that painters in the Montreal area are very enthusiastic, since most of the year there is snow!
This class was “Tranquil Lighthouse at the Shore Tapestry Bell Pull”, where Belinda taught everyone how to paint a lighthouse and beach scene with FolkArt HD Paint on Roc-lon cloth. The class sessions are taught in French, so Belinda had an interpreter.
Belinda noted that Canadian style is more of a fine art look, “They paint on wood, ceramics, tin, fabric and much more. Texture, antiquing, stenciling using texture, glimmer, crackling and decoupage with painting on top are the hottest trends…..texture, texture, texture.”
