Plaid Supplies
Apple Barrel Paint-20504 Black, 20589 Harvest Orange
Other Supplies
Stryofoam Balls™ in small, medium and large sizes, Craft glue, Pipe Cleaners, Fabric scraps, Ribbon, Snowflake brads
Instructions
- Select the sizes of the snow people you want to make. Styrofoam™ balls come in many sizes, so you could make really large snow people or very small. Use a large ball as the base of your snow person and a smaller ball as the head. I even used a tiny ball to create a bun on the head of my “mommy” snow woman. Glue the balls together. If you find that the balls are slipping while the glue dries, run a toothpick through the balls to hold them in place.
- Once you have your snow people put together, the fun can begin! Use Apple Barrel paints to create eyes, noses and mouths. You could even paint buttons on the body of your snow people!
- Use pipe cleaners to create arms and, if you don’t want to paint the noses on, cut small pieces of orange pipe cleaners as carrot noses. Pipe cleaners can be pushed into the balls, no glue needed!
- Use fabric scraps, ribbons and brads to dress your snow people.
Project Tip: For painting the faces and other fine detail work, use a toothpick instead of a paintbrush. If children are painting, be sure to clip off the sharp end before allowing them to use the toothpick.
