Wednesdays with Handmade Charlotte: 12 DIY Home Projects To Do This Summer

Summer is a great time to dig into a painting project. We want to inspire you to get into your supplies and give your home a fresh splash of color. We picked our 12 favorite projects from all over the internet to get you seriously excited. I’ve been working on changing things up a bit in our home and updating pieces of furniture and home accessories that the kids have gotten a hold of. What are you working on this summer? Do you have a special project that you would like to share or maybe a room that you just created. Send pictures we love to see what your doing!

Yellow Bed

Yellow will brighten any space and makes everyone happy. Take a chance and paint grandmas old bed yellow this summer, via Tumblr
Pink Chairs

I’ve spotted these very chairs at several tag sales over the years. Look how much fun they became when they added the fun color. You will have a blast transforming dull brown and weather furniture with these vibrant beautiful colors.
Lovely Blue Chest
This blue is driving me a bit crazy. I’m loving the contrast against the neutral walls. Less is more is always a good phrase to keep in mind when decorating. Look at the impact this made – Simple but spot on, via Design Sponge
Partially Painted
Peach is the new hip color. I loved how they took this simple table and painted it a lovely peach and then kept the legs bare. Masking tape is always a good idea when trying to get that perfect line, via Pinterest.
Painted Pillows
We love to change out the pillows every season. This is just an easy way to get a new look. How about not changing them out but painting them. How much fun! Pick your favorite Folk Art colors and get to work, via Wary Meyers.
Dipped and Painted Pots
Dipped and painted everything seems to be on everyone’s radar these days. The primary colors mixed with muted tones is fantastic. I love the pink and kelly green, via Tory Burch.

Painted Paper
Painted paper from India. I was indeed inspired by the metallic silver and yellow combination. These would be great just pinned up on a wall behind your sofa, via Parcelpost.
Painted Flooring
Take the plunge and paint your floors. This couple used giant handmade stencils. What a great project for a warm summer weekend. Let us know if you try this. Please send in your photos.
Painted Folding Chairs
Painting your metal folding chairs will defiantly add the color your wanting, when you need that extra seating for those summer pop -up guests. You can paint them in all of your favorite colors.
Painted Bedspread
Try using a thick cotton duck and a handmade stencil or a stencil from Plaid. This makes a bright and inviting coverlet for the perfect summertime room, via Tabletonic.
Painted Bottles
Take your bottles straight out of the recycle bin and use Folk Art’s enamel paint. Simple is better this is always true. The bottles are just lined up and painted one color. This would be a terrific centerpiece.
Stenciled Walls
Stenciling your walls is a fun and easy project. You just need the right tools and paint to get started. Plaid makes beautiful stencils for every interior, via young house love.
Enjoy crafting all summer long with Folk Art!

Web Wednesday: Hand Painted Flower Wine Glasses

Have you been looking for a way to jazz up your wine glasses? Well you’re in luck, today we want to share with you these hand painted flower wine glasses. I first saw these on the fabulous craft blog, How To Craft for Less. Aren’t these just amazing? I definitely could see these being used during a Sunday brunch, or at a summer cookout. These wine glasses will be the talk of the party at your next event. Erin painted these glasses using FolkArt paint, and Mod Podge. She was able to go to Walmart and buy all her supplies there, even the wine glasses. If you would like to see how Erin made this project click here.
